The Central Ontario Art Association (COAA) recently held its opening gala for their annual juried art show 'Crossroads 2013'. My painting 'Not Bordeaux' was awarded second overall, the 'Lloyd Minshall Award'. It is an honour to have been selected for this award, and in fact, I have a streak of five shows in a row that I have taken home an award. Its getting harder every year to keep this streak going! The COAA is an enthusiastic group of artists, all dedicated to advancing their skills as artists. I am very grateful to all the support and recognition they have offered me and I look forward to getting started on some new work that may be destined for next years' show!

It has been nearly a week since the big night, and it feels appropriate for a little reflection and wrap up following the 'About Time' Presentation.
First off, thanks to all those who helped stage the show, and especially to Art and Janus, the other artists participating, as well as a big thank you to all who attended. Inspite of our event falling upon a weekend where there were seemingly limitless other happenings to choose from, we were blessed with a full house. The feedback from the audience and studio visitors was extremely positive, with a reoccurring request to consider taking the presentation on the road. We will see about that, but all seemed to agree that having three creative artists showcase their own work , while sharing a common focus, made for an intriguing and wide ranging showcase of ideas and inspirations. With the 'About Time x3 Showcase and Sale officially in the books, it is now time to dive into some new artwork, trying to capture some of the fall magic that is currently making every drive, walk or ride such a pleasing, visually arresting experience! |
