The rush was on to get this new work wrapped up before the bright blooms of spring colour take over the scenery, and I made it, just! My inspiration for this new work was the patterns of snow that remain spotted across the landscape while the tug of war between seasons works itself out. While not an abstract painter, I am nonetheless a great admirer of the abstract nature of the patterns and shapes as offered by Mother Nature. This time of year demands a unique palette, very restrained yet rich, complex and captivating in its' own right. Grey County is where my home and the location of this scene are situated, and although that name was not chosen because of the local colour or lack of, found in this region, still its seemed an appropriate title for this painting.
