Timing is everything they say, and I must therefore question the notion of releasing a new painting featuring a winter scene at what is hopefully the end of this long, cold winter. Being one of those types who actually enjoys the winter season and all it offers, I must confess that the beauty of this much maligned season is, at many times, breathtaking.
This painting depicts a quiet little spot I discovered just this winter while out on the cross country skis on a fine winters day. Along the trail that followed a curvy little creek featuring rich black pools and snow laden evergreen trees along its banks, I was struck by that old familiar notion, 'here is a painting for you'. When the heat returns, banishing the cold and snow for another year, this little gem of a spot will be surrounded by difficult to traverse woods complete with spongy footing, thick underbrush, and I'm sure more than a few mosquitoes to keep me away, that is until next winter opens the door again!
