Well we are here! In spite of an honest to goodness winter, like 'back in the day', which made moving quite challenging, Brownie and I have arrived. Our new home is Meaford Ontario, situated on the south shore of Georgian Bay. That shocking pink century home ( 139 years old actually) is my new home and studio. Nestled right into a beautiful little park, on the east bank of the Big Head River, I find myself surrounded by trees, water and parkland. One might easily assume this picturesque setting is out in the countryside, but actually we are right in the heart of Meaford. Since arriving at the beginning of the new year, I have been spending my days, and nights, getting the new place shipshape, and while not quite there yet, the date of completion in not too far off. As soon as that work is sorted, I will be getting back to my easel; there is a quickly growing list of scenes to paint, that I wish to get on with. All the unpacking, sanding, painting and sorting has spoken for much of my time, but today I managed to slip away for a couple hours of cross country skiing at my favorite skiing spot, Kalopore Uplands. Happily, now only a short drive from my door! It was plenty cold and crisp but really rewarding to be out there, with the sun shining, the trees creaking, fresh snow squeaking under my skiis, and not another soul to be seen or heard. Below is a glimpse of the scenery.
